About Me
My name is Peter Shangov, I am Bulgarian and I currently live in Sofia.
My university major is in English and I am an avid reader and lover of literature. Professionally, I worked several years as a translator and editor of legal and business texts. Since 2006 I have been running my own small translation business.
I also grok software and I am a self-learned hacker. Since translation has now became mainly a side business for me, I have been working exclusively in IT for the last several years, doing development and project management. For a person with a passion for language and literature, my programming language of choice is, no surprise here, perl.
There are two NGO's I work with, doing both IT and non-IT stuff. The Program for the Development of the Judicial System works on various projects in the judiciary in Bulgaria. The Nikola Ganchev Foundation is a project to promote and teach the kaval, a Bulgarian folk instrument, played by the incredible musician and former teacher of mine, Nikola Ganchev.
These are my CPAN modules. For those interested in a more detailed professional history, here's my full LinkedIn profile. Here are some photos on Flickr (I am not much of a picture-taking person).
